Rewilding Bouverie Park
Built on the site of the former Carlton United Brewery, this new park will provided some much needed green space in this inner city location. Adding to the City of Melbourne’s aim of increasing urban biodiversity, the park will utilise native mid and understorey planting to attract insects and birds, providing food and shelter. The planting connects out to quiet Bouverie street, with planting north along a median strip, connecting to the proposed eco corridor on Pelham St. The use of ephemeral creek beds add to the park’s naturalistic feel, while filtering and cleaning storm-water and mitigating the area’s history of flood risks. The design offers people an alternative to the other more traditional English style parks of the area.
